What is Classlist MIS Integration?

Classlist integration links your school's Management Information System (for example iSAMS, SIMS, Veracross, Arbor, Bromcom) directly to the Classlist parent community platform.

A secure, automated API connection is created which transfers a small amount of personal data (parent emails, names, their children's information, class assignments, year groups) from the school system to Classlist. Updates can be triggered at any time by your Classlist Staff Admin + users. As with Classlist’s standard data management procedures, arrangements are fully GDPR compliant. No personal data is shared with other families unless parents actively consent to this.

Initial setup of the Classlist Sync Wizard requires only a few minutes input by the school IT administrator. Once the initial API link is established, the school office can manage all tasks, including year end class changes, and inviting new joiners and removing leavers, with no additional IT team input needed. Running the sync when needed can be done in minutes.

There is no risk of excluding mid-year joiners, or leaving out parents who haven’t wanted to join social media platforms like WhatsApp. Even those who don’t wish to join the Classlist app will receive announcements and event invitations by email once they have been invited to Classlist. They can unsubscribe at any time if they wish.

Improved accuracy and compliance The Classlist administrator can synchronise Classlist data with the school system in seconds whenever they wish, so data is always up to date without any manual workarounds or adjustments.

Automated data validation. As schools launch Classlist, or add families during the year, the Classlist Sync Wizard automatically highlights any special cases, for example two parents sharing a single email address, in case any action is needed.

Classlist is an iSAMS integration partner and can integrate directly via API.

Classlist can also link to most major school MIS via intermediary software Wonde.

Classlist’s Sync Wizard gives you full control of your settings, such as which parent/contact categories are invited to Classlist, which year groups and classes are included, and exclusion handling for families who should not be invited. You can select and de-select parent contacts individually if needed.

The system uses batch API, so updates are triggered manually when needed. The sync may be run once a week for instance, or less frequently, depending on how often families are joining and leaving the school, or when details have been updated in iSAMS. The Sync Wizard can be initiated and takes a few minutes to run in the background whilst you do other things on your computer. Running it will identify all new joiners and leavers before you confirm invitations and deletions and complete the sync.

If an API link cannot be established Classlist also accepts csv file uploads to invite parents.
